I'm in a bad effing mood this morning...

I awakened at the usual 4:05 and checked my various mediaaaaaaa and the first fricking thing I see is a FB post from a dental school classmate where he's telling anti-Obamacare "jokes" with a bunch of HAHA replies including one which states "ain't it the truth". Then I come here and read all the posts about Martin Bashir and can't stop thinking about the crap that Limbaugh has gotten away with for decades and, since he's self-employed (so to speak), he doesn't have to worry about anything in this, or apparently any other, regard. Then I go to work and found that my unit which has the handpieces on it, SO I CAN DO MY DAY'S WORK was on the fritz so I had to spend an hour jury-rigging it so I can at least get through the day. The repairman charges, and get this, 175 dollars just to show up and 125 an hour plus parts. Want to get someone cheaper? Sure...call them and wait a day or two and not do any work for that time. I have personnel and staff issues up the wazoo and have to deal with two major ones by Friday at quitting time, (YABBADABBADOO), and we are in the middle of the Christmas.New YEar Rush-to-get-done. The phone doesn't stop ringing with people's problems, some real, some fantasy, some just to get attention, some factitious. I could go on and on...and on top of everything else, my 98 year-old Father-in-Law is in the hospital and the doctors are fumbling the ball and kicking it into their own end zone. Later today, I'm attending a fund raiser for a Democratic candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania and of course, he is the one who is not only least likely to be elected, but was almost jeered off the stage the other day.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, the day's gonna be great...

Oh I hope it gets better. You seem like a nice person. Think happy thoughts (I know it is hard but try anyway). Thank you for your support of Democrats in Pennsylvania. Even if he is unsuccessful, having name recognition will help for future elections. It seems like a lot of politicians have been "jeered" and still seem to make it.

this I would recommend this for breakfast.

Get out a banana split dish. Put a handful of your favorite cereal in the bottom. Pour yogurt over it and some cut up fresh fruit. Top with whip cream and sprinkles.

No matter how bad your day gets, it seems better when you start it off with whip cream and sprinkles.

$174 just to walk through the door and $125 an hour? I think I need to have a talk with my kids.

One of my favorite cartoons was of a plumber handing a bill to a dentist:

Dentist: I'm a dentist and I don't make this kind of money

Plumber: Neither did I when I was a dentist.

I just went out and saw the most magnificent sunrise I have ever seen in one of the poorer parts of North America.

People were strolling and everyone said good morning.

They were counting their blessings, not their troubles.

That's the kind of pill you might need this morning.

Something about it hit me the wrong way, but I should have just kept my mouth shut.

I am undergoing something of a transformational experience right now and my perspective is rapidly changing to one of tremendous gratitude.

Being out of the country sometimes makes one see people from the US as terribly ungrateful, arrogant and even downright embarrassing.

But I have no need to take that out on this member, and I shall apologize.

17. Tackle Problems, then take a Gumption Break*
Thu Dec 5, 2013, 02:18 PM
Dec 2013

*Term coined by Robert M. Pirsig in "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintainance" to denote the importance of stepping back from the grueling tasks that befall good people who actually do something to make this a better world.

“I like the word ‘gumption’ because it’s so homely and so forlorn and so out of style it looks as if it needs a friend and isn’t likely to reject anyone who comes along. I like it also because it describes exactly what happens to someone who connects with Quality. He gets filled with gumption.

“A person filled with gumption doesn’t sit around dissipating and stewing about things. He’s at the front of the train of his own awareness, watching to see what’s up the track and meeting it when it comes. That’s gumption.

If you’re going to repair a motorcycle, an adequate supply of gumption is the first and most important tool. If you haven’t got that you might as well gather up all the other tools and put them away, because they won’t do you any good.”

If you haven't read the book, give it a try. It's dense, but worth the effort, PCIntern.

I would give you my copy, but I can't. Every one I've purchased over the last 39 years, I've given away.
