American Express website is a disaster. End of civilization near.

I received a nice offer for an AmEx card associated with my Costco account. I went to apply online at the AmEx website. I couldn't believe it. I put my information in twice -- two different browsers. Both times, it hung up without a response.

I demand in inquiry. I demand somebody be fired. This is an outrage. Darryl Issa, are you listening????

This is the end of civilization. America will never recover from this calamity.

(By the way, I was able to call their phone line and a nice young man named Jordan took the application and got everything done for me.)

I don't have any debit cards and they don't take credit cards, except for this special AmEx card.

I have been using CostCo cash cards, but this is a real PIA. I have tried to add cash to my cash card 4 times, and every single time, it is exactly the same routine. As long as I was already in the store, I bought a few other items. I go to the checkout.. They ring up $10 of merchandise. I give them the card and also tell them, I'd like to add $200 cash onto that card. I hand them the card and the cash and I swear every time they say, "you owe me $210". One time the cashier said with a scolding tone of voice "If you don't want the merchandise, I don't have to ring you out." -- the whole time she's holding my $200.

I politely explain, "No. I just handed you $200 for a $10 purchase. You need to put the remaining $190 on my cash card."

Blank stares. They never can do that. Nowadays I have to hide the cash until they have completed the merchandise transaction. If I do that, they seem to be able to manage adding the cash onto my card. Anyway, it would be easier to use the AmEx card.

I also asked for an inquiry and I howled that somebody be fired.

I had just taken a $18 Viagra pill and was all worked up with no where to go. It was an outrage. It was the end of civilization. America (and my libido) will never recover from this calamity.
