(5,179 posts)I did a search and found stuff from May 2011 about a previous confrontation they had.
I'd like to know what Sirota said recently that set Ed off today.

(5,179 posts)I used to read his articles on Huffingtonpost back in the 2005-2007 years. Then I found him on KKZN in Denver on a 9am-noon Eastern show. Lately he's on MSNBC as a contributor.

(10,602 posts)He left the show to co host on a RW station and has since left broadcasting except for occasional duty on Norman Goldman show. He has written several very good books and is a writer. I have met him and his wife on several occasions. He is a fairly liberal political writer from the younger generation.
Too bad about the rift. Ed and he are essentially on the same side of most issues.

(10,602 posts)Essentially David and Big Ed are on the same side. Something happened between Ed and Jay Marvin just before David took over Jay's show when he got sick. And Jay and David were pretty close.
I have also met Ed personally at a couple of his town halls. He seems up front to me. He is the most aggressive voice on progressive talk we have outside of Randy. I like Thom Hartmann a lot. He is more in the debate mode when I think we are in a war. Ed will not have right wingers on his show and neither will Norman Goldman, and Ed protege.
There is not debate with the right except combat because they want everyone else silenced.

(4,458 posts)Tho I don't personally know either--I just don't know wth this is about.
The only thing standing out re: this is that it brought my attention to what NBC Is doing to Unions...

(10,602 posts)Sadly there is some kind of personality thing between him and Ed. As for David he is a very promising young progressive. I used to talk to him and his producer a lot when they were on 760am radio. My wife and I have also supported his wife in her run for Denver School Board. David is aggressive like Ed and he is quite a bit left of Ed on some progressive issues.
I think David also wants a gig back. He probably should have not given up his post on 760am. Despite the rift with Ed Schultz David has a future from what I can tell.
Ed and the other MSNBC hosts are in a difficult position as far as the union us concerned. They can do a lot more if they stay on their shows than if they lose them by being too aggressive. The progressive camp has to get over these divisions and fight as one. Some of this division is diverting us from the fight we face.

(4,458 posts)with a single word. Prog Dems do have serious problems and they can be overcome--but This isn't even on the radar. Yes, We do need to focus on the "real" issues.
