http://finance.yahoo.com/news/jetblue-stranded-bunch-people-bermuda-001535751.htmlPassenger Lee Cochran told Business Insider that after her Friday afternoon flight to JFK was cancelled, JetBlue rebooked her on a January 9 flight. Her sister got a January 12 trip home.
Cochran asked about the possibility of flying to another city or being rebooked on another airline, but nothing worked out.
"JetBlue won't pay for anything," Cochran said. She's spared the cost of a hotel, since the rest of her family is staying on the island a bit longer.
Cochran added that she was in line behind a family rebooked on a January 10 flight, who were considering chartering a private plane home.
A JetBlue spokesperson explained that part of the problem is that the New York to Barbados route is served by only one Airbus A321 plane, which seats just 190 passengers. Because many customers had booked trips home after the New Year's holiday, there isn't a lot of extra capacity to absorb passengers whose flights were cancelled.

Ah well-that beach looks great

(7,051 posts)Seriously, that sucks but Jet Blue makes no bones about presenting itself as a "low-cost" airline. It should pretty much be assumed they aren't going to foot the bill for anything.

(268,980 posts)I have no plan of being stranded anywhere.
Despite the great beaches, Bim is not my idea of a great place to be stranded.

(24,324 posts)If one REALLY wants to get to NY, there is no reason you have to fly direct. Find connecting flights.
Here's one flight that is open.

(22,298 posts)I made out like a bandit one year after Christmas. Just read the conditions & make sure you get one that kicks in after 4 or 6 hours, instead of 12.
And don't whine about being "stranded" in Barbados. Enjoy the extra time at the beach.

(268,980 posts)travel. I'm not sure too many persons buying bargain tickets are thinking travel insurance although it is cost effective.
That must have been fun.

(118,282 posts)so my trip home was delayed. The next day, they decided to fly again -- but two hours late, so I missed my connecting flight

(268,980 posts)I hate missing connecting flights.
Since the volcano erupted in Montserrat nearly 20 years ago, they have no lights at the new airport, so if the flight from Jamaica is late you have to stay in Antigua overnight.
struggle4progress
(118,282 posts)when I missed the flight there. I said, No. You've already made me a day late and I can't afford another day. Get me home tonight so they did -- but with a long round-about detour. I finally got home around 4AM instead of the 5PM I had originally expected
