56% in NJ Think Christie Should Resign If He Knew About Fort Lee...
Most New Jersey voters think its likely Governor Chris Christie was aware of the Fort Lee traffic lane closures before they happened and should resign if this is proven. But voters in the state...

(297,190 posts)imagine Christie had his head in the sand for 4 months about the fallout of the GWB Closure. Knowing nothing about it until Wednesday!
The math is too fuzzy.. My theory is he started losing sleep when he realized they weren't going to get away with it and the shit will hit the fan..

If he knew about this he should resign.
If he DIDN'T know about this he should resign.
There's really no way out of this one for him. His arrogance has finally come home to roost.

(50,326 posts)It had been said repeatedly how Christie was and is a control freak, ran a very tight administration yet, in this ONE instance, he knows nothing, is told nothing, has NO interest in pursuing what happened and why it happened and who was responsible. It is a complete 'no sale', imo.
He is well known to be a 'hands-on' administrator, has taken great pride in that in the past but now, all of a sudden, it is completely 'hands-off'. Balderdash, complete balderdash.

Christie's presser was classic deflect deflect deflect.. but he couldn't do the math..

(50,326 posts)At first he tried to portray himself as a victim of his inner circle, tried to portray himself as a soft-spoken, heart-broken humble man but when it came time for the questions from the media his true self came out; arrogant, dismissive, self-centered and combative.
There is no question in my mind he knew and he knew when this 'plan' was first hatched sometime in July or August.

(50,326 posts)I think her theory is right on point, make much more sense than the one re retaliation on the Mayor for not endorsing Christie, he wasn't even asked for an endorsement. Something as big as the bridge closure had to be the result of something big, something Christie had thrown a BIG temper tantrum about ie the Dem Senate decisions re his Supreme Court appointments.
I am enjoying thinking about the temper tantrum he must be throwing right now seeing as the hearing on his AG appointment looks to be postponed and won't happen Tuesday. Seeing as all eyes are on him now he can't retaliate as would be his normal response, delicious karma, lol.
Cha
(297,190 posts)Hawai'i! Christie must be Livid and can only explode in the privacy of his home or office.. away from pesky cameras so there will be no fresh pics of "I am not a bully" references to mock him.

(8,646 posts)He reminded me of the way my ex acted when he got caught red handed lying. Uber defensive, blaming others, and acting offended that they 'would do this to him', deflecting from the basic issue at hand, then contrite and apologetic (but never actually apologizing to the ones who needed apologizing to...usually the standard non-apology), then, finally, the victim. Christie played it to a tee, just like my ex does. It was a great performance, but those of us who have dealt with people like him can read him like a book.

(50,326 posts)it was all 'me, me, me' and no genuine contrition toward the thousands who were impacted by the retaliatory action taken. It was nauseating.
I, too, have known people like him so it was easy to read him, recognize what he was really doing and saying.

Governors Spoke Privately About Bridge Controversy
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo this week to complain about a Cuomo appointee's handling of a growing controversy over traffic pattern changes on the George Washington Bridge, a person familiar with the matter said.
Mr. Christie, a Republican, complained in a private phone call to Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, that Patrick Foye, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, was pressing too hard to get to the bottom of why the number of toll lanes onto the bridge from Fort Lee, N.J. was cut from three to one in early September, according to this person. The lane closures occurred without notice to local authorities, officials have said, and snarled traffic for a week in the small borough on the Hudson River bluffs.
Messrs. Cuomo and Christie share control of the Port Authority, which oversees Hudson River bridges and tunnels and the region's airports and is rebuilding the World Trade Center complex in Manhattan.

(297,190 posts)he's only the Governor, why would he be involved or care about the unexplained traffic jams on the GWB for 4 days in September when the Mayor of Fort Lee and Pat Foye were begging for explanations. It's only happening in his state.
Not one mention in his "sad" presser. Speaking of that.. what a "sad" commentary on his knowing the emergencies that are going on in New Jersey.
