(10,527 posts)All 61 million of it. However, they might be able to send him to Miami, if Jeffrey Loria decides that A-Rod will sell some tickets. I think Miami might be willing to pick up 6 million over 3 years--which basically means A-Rod's bonus for passing Willie Mays on the home run list. The Yankees wouldn't save any money, since that still leaves them on the hook for all 61 million--and if A-Rod is retired, rather than traded, then he doesn't get the bonus money. So the Yankees are probably out 61 million either way. The question is whether Miami would have any players to trade that the Yankees wanted, and that the Marlins were willing to give up.

(32,278 posts)I really think he has worn out his welcome. Even my cousin, a rabid Yankees fan, can't see him gone quick enough. The Yankees can't afford more distractions which I'm sure will come out if he continues to play for them......the NYC press will make sure of it.

(7,051 posts)How that happens, I have no idea. If A-Fraud wants to play, he'll have to be open to doing it somewhere else, and I think Cashman would love to rid himself, once and for all.
P.S. as a Sox fan, I'm lovin it, btw.
