Illegal immigrants may be illegal, but they’re not dumb. That was the message of Mark Fisher, a self-proclaimed Tea Party member running for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. “Illegal immigrants are only illegal – they’re not stupid,” Fisher told the Rochester Republican Committee on Saturday.

Fisher called Massachusetts a “sanctuary state” for illegal immigrants, saying the state spends more money on them than several neighboring states combined.

“When I become governor, illegal immigration becomes illegal,” he said.
