I really liked it although I expected not to.
Anyone else?

(146,331 posts)I do that a lot with TV shows. I've been disappointed too many times.

(972 posts)and like it a lot. Couldn't believe the hour was up so quickly. From what I've read, it is an 8 episode story arc and if it returns next season, it would be a new story line.

(6,402 posts)Both McConaughey and Harrelson are perfect together. I loved it when they did the EdTV comedy and here they get to work in a very different way, for much longer, and with a lot of changes ahead. It's a solidly layered series with a lot to offer, especially since the creator/team is looking at it as an eight part film rather than a TV show.
Both leads really hit it out of the park with the style, approach and mannerisms. I continue to be impressed by McConaughey, since he was largely pigeonholed for so long in the romcom world, where I did like a lot of his stuff.

(149,712 posts)I didn't know what to expect.
For the longest time, I did not recognize Matthew Mc...whatshisname. He just looked so very different from what I'm used to.
And I did find the backing and forthing in the plot a bit confusing for a while. Then I got used to it.
I did like it, overall.

(36,988 posts)All aspects are award winning. Although some complain about the pace of the first episode I see that as a plus to building the characters, storyline and mystery. Both lead actors are great in their roles.
If you are into action forget it, its more on a british level of work.

(28,273 posts)Which is alright; that's what extra TV's and recording devices are for. Don't you hate how many watchable TV shows are on Sunday evenings?

(42,770 posts)and TV shows and it always makes me wonder...Don't the producers have a final task
of sitting people in front of a TV or in a theater and actually checking to see if it's
all understood? Thankfully, we have a DVR and can rewind and re-listen

Looking forward to more.

(2,340 posts)but as soon as I saw and heard the opening theme, I knew it would be a bit bizarre. It was reminiscent in some way to True Blood. I was not disappointed, not one bit.
In the beginning I had a hard time following, and felt that I had to turn the volume up (shrug), but then it settled into a good pace... or I got used to the flow.

(34,120 posts)and will watch it next week when I have the time. I started to watch but fell asleep, not from the show but because I am too darned busy right now.
I thought it looked like it might be good.
I look forward to seeing it now.

(20,588 posts)It was free HBO weekend so it will be the only one I see so I hope folks here will keep us posted. What happened to McCon-etc. 20 years later!! Is Harrelson to be believed in the interview? probably not - but why? and what a horrible town.
McCon's riff on consciousness is almost identical to a conversation I had with someone at Christmas! Weird.
