I do the same thing.... starting w. the same basic ideological POV.... and I'm lucky to get 5 recs. ( Truth is, I sometime's give myself the 5th rec... so the thread gets picked up on the GREATEST Page. But don't tell anyone.)

What's your secret, Madflo?

But Madflo does seem to have something there. I guess whatever it takes to get people to look at the ridiculous state of American education.

... have the crown-pleasing take-off power that Flo's OPs have.

It could be that she artfully "stokes" the discussion to keep the fire burning. I tend to NOT do that... or do so sparingly ( or maybe ineptly.)

I'm not saying my stuff and style isn't valid in and of itself... I'm just trying to understand why MADFLO's posts are so *wildly* popular.

I often come away from my own threads annoyed that DUers don't think ED ( esp. *public* ed) is important... or that they will NEVER understand what's actually been going on in the last 15 years, and is going on now.

But Flo's threads demonstrate w/o a doubt that many, many, DUers do in fact GET IT .

ALL of it.

Quite a puzzle.

Do you have LINKS to your posts that have sunk off into Archives that we could look at to try to figure out what has gone wrong that you are posting about?

Without that Info...how are we to understand?

Many of us DU'ers have our posts slink off to Archives...because we posted at a bad time for our issue to have traction, or we maybe did make our issue clear enough that anyone had any interest in it...or we didn't give enough verification or links to our sources that other DU'ers found what we posted credible.

I've not found that "MF" has violated any of this and she always seems to post when an issue needs light shown on it. And, with "MF" it's ALWAYS been about Educating our Children" and that something that most of us care about no matter what stage in the cycle of our lives we are.

... plus ANYTHING ed-related.... I've got hundreds of ed-related OPs, and thousands of comments.

>>>I've not found that "MF" has violated any of this and she always seems to post when an issue needs light shown on it. And, with "MF" it's ALWAYS been about Educating our Children" and that something that most of us care about no matter what stage in the cycle of our lives we are. >>>>>>

We're pretty much covering the same ground... near as I can tell. ( Not EXACTLY the same; but close). It seems to be a matter of style.

And don't misread: I'm not complaining: I LOVE the fact that she reaches so many people ( precisely because we have a vary similar philosophy re. matters educational.)

And I certainly didn't start this thread out of jealousy. ( I'm comfortable w. the way I express myself. And I think I can argue the case in my own style as well as Madflo can argue the same case in hers. ) I'm just trying to figure out why she REACHES people on such a broader scale... considering we're usually saying close to the same thing.

Again: I'm GLAD she reaches people. ( Really!) I'd like to learn how to do that better myself. Or at least understand HOW she does it.

Most of the time education just isn't a sexy issue on DU, so posts on education sink to the bottom. Some posts really get people riled up though like Duncan insulting teachers.

She's good at social media and knows her stuff. I don't know about here; maybe it's like that Highlander movie, "there can be only one!" I'm just teasing!

I will pay more attention to your posts from this point out. One of my devoted causes is our education system. I'll be looking looking forward to your insight in the future.

She is a teacher and is all about debunking the lies on public education. And as someone who is also in the field and who has worked and volunteered in our public schools, I feel her on a lot of things. don't sweat it. keep posting. You will have a flame. It may not be for good You may encounter a troll of the worse kind. Someone who says the President needs to study the Constitution. And when you say he taught Constitutional Law. They say he is to Professorial
