A man who went to the movies with his wife in Columbus, Ohio, was subjected to a terrifying hour-long interrogation by the FBI because employees at the AMC theater saw him wearing Google Glass.
They apparently thought he might be illegally taping the film and didn't believe him when he tried to explain that the glasses were prescription, and weren't even switched on.
The incident ought to make Glass wearers think twice about when and where they don their smart spectacles. (It also shows how feeble law enforcement's knowledge of the new device is, too it took them an hour before they figured out how to download the device's content.)
AMC confirmed the incident in a statement to Business Insider:

(135,425 posts)see some dingdong ambling down the road wearing the things. It's bad enough we're filmed constantly in every urban environment, when you've got some dink running around recording people up close as they pass by, it's getting uber-intrusive.
Those stupid things are the technology of the future, regardless of my attitude towards them, but we'll just have to wait to see if they are placed beside the Segway and the pet rock or the cell phone and the tablet in the Museum of The Latest Craze....

(21,786 posts)like wearing a video camera so you can potentially record everything you interact with at every waking moment. "Glassholes" is an appropriate coinage for Google Glass users, if you ask me.

(36,988 posts)1. It wasn't the FBI it was homeland security. The nearest FBI office is miles and hours away
2. google glass has a mono microphone and a 5 megabit camera. You could not move your head once., whereas new camera phones have dual mics and 15 megabit camera and can be set on a portable stand.
3. the guy's a dope for wearing them.
4 The MPAA reps were on site at the AMC theater and called it in to the feds and local cops.
Waste of Federal, State and local tax money apparently 13 different types of cops were outside when they pulled him out.
If this happened in Florida?...... someone might have just shot him
