(15,031 posts)Far better to find an up and coming independent designer, someone hungry to prove their mettle, a stylist who would at least put some thought and effort into it and not just throw fabric at a wall and see how it sticks.

(12,051 posts)is what happens when you go for the "brand name" rather than search for an actual attractive style. Dump 'brands' fer chrissake and go with an unknown designer who shows actual talent. You wouldn't think this would be hard, but......

(22,756 posts)"...After 2012's rough PR pilling members of Congress and the media railed against uniforms that were mostly made in China Ralph Lauren is making sure that the made-in-the-USA message is emblazoned on and woven into every piece outfitting the more than 400 athletes and 250 officials.
"We've learned a lot," concedes David Lauren, Ralph's son and the company's executive vice president of global advertising, marketing and communications. "This is an important issue for ma
ny Americans and one we have fully embraced, and we want to continue to lead the way and find all kinds of vendors who can produce amazing products made in America."

(9,350 posts)I considered begging you to tell me that the story was a joke. Then I clicked the link and now feel the article is not a joke. As a result, me comment is those uniforms are just horrible. What in the world was Ralph Lauren thinking? Who would he expect to walk out in public with those uniforms? The article said he was the king of prep. Would preppies even wear those uniforms if they were not forced to wear them?
In addition, am I the only who thinks these uniforms are going to make the American team look like clowns? Seeing those uniforms I expect it see a clown show with people doing funny things and juggling objects.

(114,904 posts)The U.S. snowboarders will be showing off a patchwork of styles in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Their uniforms, unveiled recently by manufacturer Burton, are built around the competition jacket with squares of stars, stripes and plaids.
The design was inspired by a hand-crafted patchwork quilt spotted at an antiques fair, according to the Vermont-based company. The way the fabric is printed, no two items with the quilt fabric are quite the same.
