* Poo = scientific materialists
Far more dangerous and deadly than the alternative therapies often denigrated as "woo", poo has claimed yet another victim. The news brings us today yet another in the hundreds upon of tales of patients killed by Poo - unmitigated & unredeemed Scientific Materialism.
A New York man died in the early hours of Jan. 20 after waiting more than eight hours for medical assistance at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY.
"He was found stiff blue and cold. He was there for a while," said a hospital worker speaking anonymously to WABC. When questioned by the local news station's reporter, Jim Hoffer, how a patient could be ignored for such a length of time at a major New York City hospital, the worker revealed that no policy exists "to check the waiting room to see if people waiting to be seen are still there or still alive."

(5,179 posts)You can blame understaffed and under-funded hospitals for this death, not science.
Worse, everyone should have a safe place to be simply because they are human.
Our broken society doesn't do that. Too much is "pay to play" or die.

(7,044 posts)Deal with it. It's a scientific fact. Hate on woo all you want. And defend Poo till the cows come home. It changes nothing, scientifically or otherwise. You poo fanciers are living a delusion. Poo is far more dangerous to your health. Get a grip.
The top five causes of death in the United States, in order, are tobacco, alcohol, medical malpractice, traffic and firearms. According to JAMA, doctors kill more people than auto accidents and guns. I don't see "woo" in that list.
There are 700,000 physicians in the United States.
There are 120,000 accidental deaths in the United States caused by physicians every year, and the accidental death percentage per physician is 17.1%.
Ugly, but true about poo.

Why is it Poo and Woo have to be mutually exclusive? Why can't we have both Woo and Poo. I for one live for Woo and Poo, I know if it weren't for Woo and Poo DU would have one less thing to make us look like idiots. I'm sure that with stupid things like income inequality, perpetual war, out of control Homeland Security, unemployment, Drone Strikes, cuts to social services and an entire city with no fucking water, the most important thing, is to make sure that Liberals are fighting amongst themselves about Woo and Poo.

Your naturopath? I hope not. You need to go to the ER. They'll remove your inflamed appendix, give you antibiotics, and send you home by suppertime.
Funny how people act when they're actually acutely ill.

I can tell you it's pure hell to have your license on the line every day you go into work because you can't be ten different places at once.
Had the man received timely assessment and treatment
by a health professional who was not rushed because s/he was wearing ten hats at once, he would still be alive today.
It's very typical to blame established medical treatment for this death when the non delivery of such treatment is what caused it. Whoever wrote this horseshit should have gone after hospital management, not standard health care as a whole.
In other words, it's a monumentally stupid article.

(7,044 posts)OK, folks have had a jolly good time with this week's regularly scheduled session of Woo Punching, apparently a subdivision of Hippie Punching. Here's how it works. An OP cites an odd example of an alternative therapy approach that resulted in disaster, and everyone piles on to denigrate, disparage and condemn all alternative therapies as "Woo" -- the Devil's Own Treacherous Doing. It's a regular Inquisition, complete with rhetorical torches and pitchforks.
But let someone (moi) cite an odd example of Scientific Materialist Medicine gone awry -- as happens every day - and then add an obviously preposterously sweeping judgment for the sake of argumentantive contrast, and it sparks a Twisted Panties Party on an epic scale.
Woo (yin) punching remains popular; poo (yang) punching is verboten. Where else might one see this pattern playing out in the world?
