Btw, I know I'm a targeted individual-over the past few years I've searched for concrete answers to profound life experience questions--I followed the system that is supposed to work for all citizens of The United States whose rights have been violated beginning with local law enforcement, then State elected officials, then my US Congressman's office, US Senator's office, DoJ Inspector General, and even more alphabet soup regulatory and oversight offices.

I've contacted attorneys and the ACLU, some of the individuals were helpful but no one will take the case.

I've gotten responses to my bona fide case of Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law that do everything except follow the rule of law because of the involvement of the invoking of national security shield.

I've shared my experiences in regards to this with a group of DUers over the years in the real world. Several of them I consider close friends.

So consider me a person that really takes an interest in what is preventing some movement towards justice for many other citizens.
Having some understanding of the history of domestic surveillance is required. I would like to hear from other DUer's that are in similar circumstances as well as those that take an interest in such things to explore how to overcome this barrier to justice.

1. On March 4, 1968 John Edgar Hoover issued a memo to FBI field offices stating goals of COINTELPRO

2. One of the "domestic surveillance" programs that got many of US boomer generation kids on "lists"

was John Edgar Hoover's pathological COINTELPRO-New Left. I attended Milwaukee's South Division High School (so did Golda Meir and Arthur Bremer) when a teacher that had helped draft The Port Huron Statement was organizing a highschool Students for a Democratic Society group. He most certainly was under "surveillance" and that most likely included students like me that still think democracy is worth fighting for.

Also I was sitting in with non-white musicians and becoming acculturated, oh boy what a threat to Democracy we all were at 16 years of age to people like Hoover and the Milwaukee Police Department's (Harold Brier era) Red Squad during 1965-66.

3. You don't have to look far. I have been just been told that because of

what news sources I read/watch, I am a 'commie Putin spy'. I imagine because I am 'reading the wrong material' and said so here on DU, I am on a list.

Here's some advice to Democrats. Keep your news sources to yourself, you cannot be open and honest about anything anymore and you don't have to leave this forum to be placed on a list.

Weren't laws passed at some point btw, that made this kind of surveillance illegal after it was exposed?

But regarding your situation, I'm sorry you have not been able to get a resolution, I don't know what happened, but assume you have been denied justice for wrongs done to you.

Wrt to the Privatization of our Security, that was a recipe for abuse of every kind, from lower standards of who is doing all this spying, perfect place for sexual deviants apparently, to the profit motive to keep it all going.

There is so much that needs to be done to establish a fair, open and democratic society here it's hard to know where to begin. But I would start by getting money out of politics, which is going to be hard due to depending on those who profit from it.

4. People in my town were visited by the FBI

Including me.

During George W.'s term.

People who were visited included someone asking about planes flying low over the city, a lawyer who is involved in left politics, people involved in United for Peace and Justice... anyway, just questions but all at the same time. Some of us didn't know one another but found out by talking about it that others had also been visited. The FBI said they were seeking information about some guy who had been involved in the radical ALF/ELF movement (Animal/Environmental Liberation.) Maybe that's why they were asking, but I had never really known the guy in any way, other than the FBI telling me he used to live next door to me, briefly.

But all of us had been to marches on Washington or had signed petitions regarding the same with leftist groups.

All of us assumed they were using that guy as a ruse. I'm pretty sure another agent in the car took my picture by the way the agent at my door leaned back and looked at the car when he and I were talking.

Or maybe not.

7. One of my friends' daughter who was about 11 or 12 at the time, tried to make a phone call that was

long distance. She somehow got through to Afghanistan by accident and they got a huge bill, which is when her mother learned about the call. Her daughter didn't realize it would be on the bill since she hung up and got through to the number she wanted.

They were then visited by the FBI to find out who they knew in Afghanistan. They explained what happened, and that was the end of it as far as the knew.
