http://mediamatters.org/blog/201203210004The legislation apparently preventing the successful prosecution of Trayvon Martin's killer was reportedly adopted by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) as model legislation that the shadowy group has spent years promoting across the country with the help of their allies in the National Rifle Association.
I guess it figures that ALEC would be part of this somehow. It should be a stigma for any legislator to be involved with this group.

makes their eyes glaze over and the mind shut down.

And the NRA and the gun types were successful in keeping that from becoming a gun story. They're really good at defending butchery and making it seem like it's normal to have a gun fetish. It is not normal.
r.e. ALEC...thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have a deficit of ALEC knowledge, and I need to correct that situation.

(41,757 posts)4. and the whole fetid host of stupid RW guns-everywhere-all-the-time-laws too
It's not enough to suppress the minority vote with voter ID laws - you have to kill them off with a combination of lax concealed weapons permitting laws and vigilante stand your ground laws.
