No price is mentioned, which means most people will never be able to afford one. It's either an elaborate scam or someone decided like Bill Gates who watched Star Trek and wanted to see the devices in science fiction happen in his lifetime. This was in the Michael J. Fox series of films Back to the Future.

I doubt if it will take much weight, and it's likely part of that was manipulated with a blue screen splicing skate boarder footage with the device. There are hovercraft that can handle a lot o weight.

I found a video of Obama at a high tech firm that had a hover craft demonstration. He talked a reporter from the NYT into getting on the thing and doing it but she was pretty freaked.
