I have a diabetic cat.

We all know that internet forums and groups are improved by the presence of cats. Right?

Some years back another DUer gave me some good advice re cinnamon. Don't remember his name, but I've lived with the good information, and it has turned out to have been proven in tests since. Let's do it!

Diagnosed type II about 15 years ago. On 2 types of oral and 2 types of insulin. My blood suger has been known to bounce around between 55 and 400. More shared information couldn't hurt me at all.

diabetes groups and they were spammed regularly, but very well self-policed.

So, I doubt we'll have too many problems with woo and bad science

Family history of Diabetes. I have a major chronic endocrine disorder and am inching closer to Type 2 Diabetes. I have managed it thus far without medications for about 7 years. I am always eager to hear experiences, knowledge, and share my own.

Thanks.

I was diagnosed almost four years ago, at the age of 49. I knew I likely had a genetic predisposition to it given my family history (my father and three out of four of his siblings, several of my mother's siblings, and (at the time) two of my three sisters (the third has since been diagnosed as a borderline case, or 'pre-diabetic.' The thing is, despite the genetics, I guess I figured I could dodge this particular bullet because I have never been overweight and have always been fairly physically active. But sometimes, the luck of the genetic draw trumps everything else!
