Bill O'Reilly disrespects the profession of Physician Assistant.

In much the same way he disrespects everything that isn't Bill O'Reilly.

Hey, Bill! I hate your stupid, stinking guts. But if you came into my clinic, you'd get 100% of my skill and training to get you fixed up. Because we are better than you. I was trained in the PA program sponsored by the University of Washington Medical School, one of the best medical schools in the country.

ARNP's are similar to PA's. Both are considered 'mid-level providers'. Aristus Mar 2014 #12

He is a lousy excuse for a human.

Taking the high road is an excellent way to show him just how stupid he truly is.

When the VA opened a contractor-operated clinic in my community, I chose to stick with the VA hospital 50 miles away because enrolling at the clinic would have meant losing my PA at the hospital as my primary provider.

It would have been a LOT more convenient to only have to go a few miles to the clinic for basic exams and tests like bloodwork, but I had an excellent PA at the hospital and I was NOT going to lose him. I trusted him completely.

The PA I had before that was a woman, at a VA hospital in another state, and she also was excellent.

Don't let the bastards get you down, Aristus!

Nurse Practicioner is the term I first heard. I assume this is similar, or the same thing. Hell, Kaiser went to them many years ago, when my company made that HMO available. Back then, they used to ask if you were OK with it, so we may have lost that, although I think one could actually insist on seeing a "real" doctor if one made a big thing of it. There would be serious delays, of course.

Now, I have a RNP at the VA who's a decent gal, who seems to know her stuff, and knows to contact the "real" doctors if she gets out of her depth.

Hell, it's my contention that any good Nurse knows almost as much as a doctor in a practical sense after a few years of experience, anyway.

What O'Lielly disrespects is the union, I'm thinking. Well, he disrespects most anything, come to think of it.

PA's are educated and trained along the medical school model.

ARNP's are educated and trained on the nursing school model, and are able to practice independently.

but it doesn't change much regarding O'Reilly.

We're all basically proles to him.
