Bizarre story out of Pontiac, MI. Her bills were being automatically deducted from her bank account. Eventually the money ran out, and the house went into foreclosure. A worker sent by the mortgage company to repair a hole in the roof made the grisly discovery.

(5,946 posts)when I worked if I were late people would hunt me down, heh. Now that I am retired, my bank expects to see me at least once a month. once the phone rang and it was a bank manager calling because she did not see me for a couple of months and she was worried about me, not to mention that I talk to all my siblings. I used to have a doctor that would call to see how I was if I did not drop by the office, before my insurance made me switch doctors so long ago. now there are the charities I volunteer for. Just make sure someone will always miss you and this will not happen.

(15,185 posts)I wonder why she was in the back seat. It may have been a suicide and she kept the engine running... Could the autopsy report determine Carbon Monoxide poisoning five years later? My chemistry is hazy.
Either way, very sad and strange.

(15,185 posts)and it indicated the key was in the "off" position and there may have still been fuel in the gas tank, so it likely wasn't CO poisoning. I can't imagine that it would be easy to find a probable cause of death at this point.
It's very bizarre. Apparently the grass was being cut and neighbors suspect she was out of the country or travelling. I guess everything was just set to auto pay. You'd think neighbors would find it strange that the house was seemingly abandoned without a "for sale" or "for rent" or "sold" sign up front. Not one curious neighbor would have checked home price values and noticed the odd house where nothing had happened for 5 years?
I just find it sad that everyone is so disconnected from their neighbors and how little sense of community there is.
