Ukraine crisis: Journalists attacked in Crimea

A team of journalists in Crimea has been filmed coming under attack by soldiers. One journalist told the BBC the soldiers claimed to be from Russia.

On Saturday, a BBC team in the area was threatened by plain clothes men with guns.

Warning shots were also fired as a team of international military observers was turned back from entering Crimea for the third time.

To blame this on the CIA.

Shame on anyone who supports what Russia is doing.

Genuine DU thread:

There were two military lorries with Russian number plates outside the gates, surrounded by irregular soldiers and a very hostile crowd of pro-Russian demonstrators, our correspondent adds.

Two journalists who attempted to take photographs were beaten badly.

Don't fire on them because that is what the Russians want

It is the last thing the Russians want. There are too many here in the West that

desire such an outcome, however.

Be afraid of that which you wish.

(me)So the Russian soldiers did this to show they can vandalise Ukraine with impunity?

It shows that Putin has a bunch of thugs working for him.

No, they did this to protect the Russian citizens that were soon to be invaded

by the hoards of neo-nazi, nationalists that were en-route from Ukraine.

That last post was sincerely meant. I had to check.

Period.
I saw it with my own eyes while living in Russia.
There will be no investigation into these acts, either.

He has season tickets. Not much joy there.

And my webmaster, and good friend, is an insane Mets fan. I mean, when we go to Rochester Redwings games, he wears his Mets T-shirt, sweat shirt and hat and every half inning he goes back to the refreshment area to check on the Mets game (and get another beer)

He's like a 9 year old in a 38 year old's body.

If I even mention the dreaded ssshhh--(evil empire) he just gets up and leaves...
Every so often I will say "George Steinbrenner", just to pull his chain.

to be willing to suffer some economic pain, at least in the short to medium term to get away from it.

This has to be all over social networking sites available even to Russian speakers in Ukraine.
