More bullying of bronies. :(

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/school-9-year-old-boy-to-blame-for-being-bullied-bans-his-my-little-pony-backpack/news/2014/03/17/84438

Grayson, a nine-year old boy is to blame for being bullied by his classmates, say elementary school officials who have now banned his My Little Pony backpack for being the source of the attacks....

In fact, Noreen Bruce, Grayson’s mom, calls it “flawed logic; it doesn’t make any sense,” and adds, “saying a lunchbox is a trigger for bullying is like saying a short skirt is a trigger for rape.”

Grayson is a big fan of My Little Pony, but when he brought his new Rainbow Dash backpack to school, classmates at his North Carolina school started “punching me, pushing me down, calling me horrible names, stuff that really shouldn’t happen,” he told WLOS News.

Grayson’s mom says she “was later contacted by the principal saying Grayson could no longer bring this lunchbox to school. My son is being called awful names and has even been told to ‘go home and kill himself!’ Now on top of everything he can’t bring a lunch box he really likes and I feel like is being sent the message that this is his fault.”

Are you saying that his parents and he are to blame for his being bullied? Over a cartoon character backpack. I'm sure that can't be what you mean, but that's what it sounds like.

Blaming the victim is not really appropriate here.

Let's just create a world where we all bow down to bullies, and let them always have their way. Let's make all of our choices by asking the question "will some asshole beat me up for this choice?"

What could go wrong?

You know what's really sad? Once Grayson defends himself by punching some dimwit who punched him first, the damn school will have him suspended.

on bullying in Atlanta schools last night.

It was of special interest to me because of a friend of mine whose son committed suicide in a North Georgia middle school because of bullying.

This happened in the late '90s. He was bullied because of his weight. One day, he took his father's pistol to the school. He stood up in class and told everyone he could not take the bullying any longer and shot himself fatally in the head.

It is adult male fans who came up with the term. If any boys are caught up in the need to set themselves apart from the 'target audience' solely on account of their sex, well that's just unfortunate.

The distinction isn't super-relevant really, this boy was bullied and that is wrong. But the term Brony was coined to refer to adult males, good or bad.

(I think it may have started in 4Chan if that helps. Mostly started as viciousness toward furries, etc.)

The bullies will keep on bullying him until they succeed in forcing his family to pull him out of school, or he kills himself. And then they'll celebrate. Because that's what sociopaths do - and ALL bullies have sociopathic tendencies. They know they've won this one; they bullied him out of his Rainbow Dash bag.

Mar 2014

http://blog.sfgate.com/sfmoms/2014/03/21/school-allows-bullied-boy-to-wear-my-little-pony-backpack-to-school/

Earlier this week, I wrote about a 9-year-old North Carolina boy who was being teased at school for wearing a “girlie” My Little Pony backpack to school. Administrators at Hyatt Elementary initially tried to solve the problem by telling Grayson Bruce to not wear his beloved backpack, telling him was a “trigger for bullying.”

But then a social media firestorm ensued. Grayson’s mom, Noreen Bruce, launched a Support for Grayson Facebook page, attracting over 70,000 fans, and people all over the world wrote in messages telling the boy that his love for My Little Pony is awesome. Men posted images of themselves holding pony dolls. Media outlets across the country picked up the story and it sounds like the folks over at Hyatt Elementary heard the outcry because they’ve changed their minds and are letting Grayson wear his Rainbow Dash backpack to school.

Yesterday, administrators at Buncombe County School district met with Grayson’s parents and they posted a message on the district Facebook page.

We have appreciated the opportunity to meet with the Bruce family and discuss the issues. We sincerely regret that the issue of being told to leave the bookbag at home was perceived as blaming Grayson. While that was not the intent, the perception became reality. We support Grayson bringing the bookbag to school.

Oh, how swell of them.

Also, I just realized that the earlier incident of Pony-related bullying was also in NC.
