(135,425 posts)Who was the guy in charge in Russia back when all that happened?
I guess they don't change their dirty drawers as often as we do....?

(13,704 posts)What a strange response from poster #1.

(135,425 posts)Do you think Bush's misdeeds in Iraq excuse Putin's today? That it's a tit-for-tat game that's being played?
Do you think there's equivalent leadership in both nations? We do change our leadership every four to eight years. Putin's been hanging on for a quarter century.
The points I was making were not at all complex. Nor were they "strange." They were basic and obvious.

(13,704 posts)I honestly had to recall where I saw that pic, but then I saw the American flag on the arm. I don't know if they treated prisoners in Guantanamo Bay like that, but it was my second guess.
MADem
(135,425 posts)And it's not "Al Graib" -- it's Abu Ghraib. Good grief, if you're gonna try to lecture people at least get the details right. That's one of the most iconic photos of that sad and horrific chapter in our history--anyone who doesn't recognize it would have to have been asleep at the switch.
What part of "Two wrongs makes a right" suggests that the wrongs were committed by the same individual? And in case that wasn't clear, the follow on sentence should focus the easily discombobulated to the point.
lumpy
(13,704 posts)The prison was also referred to as Al Graib. Perhaps you should not have mentioned Russia at all in reference to the picture. No wonder posters thought yours was a strange post.

The OP is trying to create a false equivalence between the US and Russian governments.
That was the purpose of this shit stirring thread.

(135,425 posts)You may think you're cute but you're behaving in a disruptive fashion.
The "dirty drawers" aren't what the leaders are wearing, bright eyes--they ARE the leaders.
Don't talk in shitty riddles when you can't even take the point of obvious ones.

(135,425 posts)Here, let me quote it for you, since you're playing the obtuse, naive "duuuuh, I di-n't know" game:
Don't post "shock content" or porn.
Do not post or link to extreme images of violence, gore, bodily functions, pain, or human suffering for no purpose other than to shock and disgust. Do not post or link to pornography.
Now, don't pretend you weren't told. Since you're "new" here, here's the link to the TOS, you need to read it: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=termsofservice

(62,325 posts)Surely they have been held accountable for their crimes?
Did you know that a child was tortured in Abu Ghraib?
Any Democracy who lectures others on Human Rights issues must surely have dealt with their own war criminals before lecturing the world on the issue?
'Two wrongs make a right'.
Well, nothing can make atrocities of such mammoth proportions RIGHT for the victims. People were tortured to DEATH. Women were raped, children sodomized. Nothing can make that RIGHT.
But there is some small comfort when justice is done for the victims, and for a nation in whose name these atrocities were committed.
But what if a nation refuses to hold its war criminals responsible? What if its War Criminals appear on its national media as respected 'experts' on Foreign Policy?
What would you say about such a nation?
If it wasn't our own?

(91,652 posts)I don't see any of that in your post. The horror, the horror indeed, passing off unattributed material that stirs people up without providing actual information.
What exactly is your point and where are you going with this, I wonder.

(91,652 posts)...graphic content and let others make guesses. I don't know where you were when Bush the Lesser was installed in the White House, but I was in the streets and everywhere in my community by the time the propaganda was in full swing, months before "Shock and Awe." Implying that we weren't aware then or are not aware now because we can't read your intent in a guessing game is both insulting and stupid.
