"Democrats are so desperate in AR & AK that they're attacking military service by GOP candidates"

This is the meme being regurgitated by the think tanks on Twitter today...and I mean they are beating it to death.

I'm not sure what has happened in Alaska, but I know the reference to Arkansas has to do with Sen Pryor and his challenger, the Heritage Foundation-creation, "former Ranger" Rep. Tom Cotton.

Cotton is shamelessly using his service to promote himself. Pryor said to the media that Cotton seemed to think his service entitled him to hold office. First, they seized on his use of the word "entitled", but now there is a crafted campaign to sling mud at Pryor's supposed "attacks on military service".

The tweets are being posted along with a Youtube video posted by the National Republican Senatorial Committee. I won't watch the video because I don't want to increase it's view count & because comments and ratings have been disabled for it.

The Democrats in office here are mostly silent. Two bloggers and a newspaper journalist are the only ones speaking up for...well, sanity.

This is gearing up to be the ugliest political scene I've ever witnessed. Be ready. Arkansas has given me a preview of the American Corporatocracy and it ain't pretty!

that was horrible. You have a woman that lost both her legs and has diminished capacity in one of her arms and tell her that she talks to much about serving her country. Uh, how could she avoid talking about service to her country when she has the proof of it literally written on her body?

And what they did to Max Cleland. The man lost three limbs. Just some ugly, ugly people.

I had indeed forgotten about the comments made about Rep. Duckworth. I hope I can dig some up to throw in their faces. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the reminder.

On edit:

I think this piece from 2012 will do nicely:

slandered. There are dozens more. Whatever is being said about these republicans and their service probably doesn't compare.

despite the fact that he repeatedly put himself in harms way and received a Silver Star for gallantry, that just made me want to throw up. The man gave more to his country than 99% of the politicians in Washington EVER have. Tammy Duckworth and John Kerry were ridiculed for their service, too.

That was one of those elections that made me think we Americans must be very, very stupid.
