So I don't have an article to link to, but Romney sure knows how to "stay" in the news. Check out the MSNBC homepage today for proof...
Yes it is ridiculous, and yes 2014 is my (and hopefully our) first priority but what say ye'...

Cirque du So-What
(25,938 posts)so I'm gonna refrain from making a flat statement one way or the other. He does have a ginormous ego, however, and 'daddy issues' as well, I suspect. He's already surpassed his father by garnering the gooper nod in '12, but losing has to weigh heavily on his consciousness. On the other hand, perhaps he's angling to become 2016's 'kingmaker'. I just don't fuggin' know.

I agree I think it's all about daddy, basic psych stuff.
Cirque du So-What
(25,938 posts)Ya think he fashions himself an 'elder statesman' with enough clout to influence the primaries and repug convention? I believe he has the chutzpah to fantasize about it. In the real world, however, I envision him getting booed soundly at public venues. If he does, I expect nothing more personally risky than talking-head show appearances - like he's doing now.

(28,749 posts)There is a significant bloc of people who did vote for him in 2012 and whomever the R party runs next would sure like those voters... Plus more.
I imagine if he doesn't run he will be visible stumping/etc for whomever does run.
Even as a looser he has clout (why I'll never really understand).

(16,845 posts)and the people around him that told him otherwise were blowing smoke up his ass. He seems to be pretty clueless about a lot of things, but I don't think he's a complete moron.

(45,319 posts)his wife both say he won't and they are well known liars so I assume they are lying.
Also, Mitt's Very Bad Year would be aged out of the income tax revelations, so this time he could show his taxes and just look rich and selfish rather than criminal and traitorous.

I doubt he will run, but he might be interested in trying to play king maker among those who do run.

Jack for Sanders
(46 posts)Obviously he would't be running against President Obama again, an open seat is a whole different ballgame.
The GOP has already implemented new primary rules to minimize the "clown car" aspect of the last campaign.
It's unlikely that anything new will be dug up about the Mittster so any mud tossed his way is old news.
Depending on who the Democratic Party actually nominates and because the Repugs are delaying their convention in '16 he may very well try to sweep in as a party "uniter" late in the proceedings.
At least I would guess that's how he sees it.

Cue the circus music!

(146,307 posts)He's marked as a loser. I don't think he has a chance at the nomination. They tried that once, and lost miserably.

(46 posts)Talk about your hated loser.
Yet there he was.
Not to mention that Wallace got almost 14% of the vote that probably would have gone to him and not Humphrey.
Strange things can and do happen.

(22,308 posts)I think he sucked up all the money he could last time and that he won't have the same donor base this time around.
He is also an easy target for all the same attacks. The other (R) candidates and talking heads would just say that he wasn't conservative enough then, and he isn't conservative enough now.
I think he is done.
