Florida - Union soldiers be damned

Dem der damn Yankees ain't goin' be having no place in our battlefield.

Not many Civil War battles fought in Florida, but there was one of note in its brutality toward the famed 54th Black Mass. regiment when the honorable Sons of the South clubbed to death the black prisoners after the battle.

So, trying to honor those Northerners that fought and died in that battle, a tea-party asshat goes ballistic.

but she now lives with my sister up in Georgia, because she can't live by herself anymore.
I remember that if you drove south from Atlanta to her house, somewhere along I-75 in Fla, someone had erected a massive Confederate flag on a pole. North Florida, far as I can tell from up here in Joisey, is pure cracker country.
On a better note, I wasn't too surprised when someone said they'd spotted an ivory billed in a preserve in north Florida. If there's any other place in the US that could possibly still have them, it's in there.

Plus, the South isn't just for Southerners anymore. There are quite a few of us Damn Yankees (the kind that don't leave) here now. My great great grandfather was a Union general from Massachusetts. His soldiers were all African-American. If someone want to pay to honor the winning soldiers with a statue, go for it.
