Bush speechwriter: Krugman was right

When a former former speechwriter for George W. Bush says nice things about Paul Krugman it’s worth taking notice. Krugman was one of Bush’s toughest critics; to suggest that he was correct in his savage evisceration of Bush’s economic policies is apostasy of the highest order.

But Frum goes even further than that in his post “Were Our Enemies Right?” Frum suggests that the entire conservative movement has fundamentally misunderstood how to manage the economy, and he compares it to how the “left” failed to understand the true nature of Soviet Communism.

The people in power simply don't care about having a good economy. The care about who is getting rewarded and how much they will contribute back to the party. As with many issue, how well the country does isn't part of the equation.

3. Conservatives used to be realists and pragmatists. Their watchword was "trust but verify".

Frum belongs to this group of old school conservatives.

The majority of today's conservatives live in a world of make believe. "Perception is reality" is their watchword.

Living in the Fox News bubble can only promote their perception and fend off reality for so long. Eventually reality bites back.

Krugman has one of the best track records of any pundit I have ever read. I don't recall him EVER being wrong...something he delights in pointing out to his sulking opponents...LOL...
