Drug test the parents of everyone attending public schools. Got money for drugs, you got money for private school.
Why pretend they aren't getting government assistance to educate their children. If we are going to deny food benefits to children because a parent smoked a joint, why not also deny them the educational benefits? How could someone supporting drug testing for food benefits oppose this?

Also, I suspect that a lot of people would be fucking delighted not to have their kids going to school with the children of drug users. So if you think this policy would get a backlash by making the drug testing hit too close to home for "normal people", you might want to rethink it.
Finally, this would appeal greatly to those who'd like to limit class mobility. What better way to keep those from disadvantaged backgrounds (and having a drug using parent is a generally a disadvantage) from being able to overcome that hindrance.
