Sea Bright Mayor Who Endorsed Christie.....

Leaves the Democratic party. I suppose she got what she needed for her town in exchange for the endorsement.

Report: Sea Bright mayor leaves Democratic party

Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long is no longer a Democrat.

Long is now listed as unaffiliated, according to Monmouth County voter registration records. The mayor declined to comment on her decision to change her party status.

Monmouth County Democratic Party Chairman Vin Gopal said he did not know why Long made the change.

“I think she’s focused on Sea Bright more than county, state or national politics,” he said. “Over the year, her town really took a hit and that’s her focus.”

Last year, Gopal issued a stinging statement after Long announced she was backing Gov. Chris Christie for re-election over Democratic candidate state Sen. Barbara Buono. Long was among the first of many Democratic mayors, including her counterparts in Long Branch and Spring Lake, to cross party lines with the endorsement.

The move prompted Gopal to ask Long to step down from positions she held within the party, including the Sea Bright Democratic chairmanship.

Its certainly not an affinity for the positions espoused in the republican platform. I was hoping somebody with some authority was going to ask her about any connections between her endorsement and Sandy aid. I guess someone still might. I had heard she was feeling some angst over it. I guess she's given up the dream of replacing Frank Pallone when he moves on.

wrong with being a member of the Democratic party in New Jersey.. particularly with the Mayor of Sea Bright. I say there's something wrong with being a Christie endorser.

I don't think this is going to effect her in town. The council is 5-1 republicans. I don't think anybody's going to run against her next year. I always had the feeling she was sucking up to Christie to get as much disaster help as she could.
