(20,166 posts)The shot of the the Pharaoh literally living in luxury on the backs of slaves was particularly offensive to me.
And as someone else here has pointed out: the song is completely wrong for this commercial if you know what Bowie and Lennon are singing about (but that never stops Madison Ave. from co-opting songs for its own purposes).

(417 posts)Sheesh, talk about unclear on the concept. This song by Bowie (with John Lennon singing backup) (not Queen) is a complete disparagement of fame and money, not a celebration of it. When I first saw this commercial I couldn't believe how wrong it was. My jaw dropped.
It's just like the Republicans using "Born in the USA" as a theme song.... "Born in the USA, something something something Born in the USA something something something" without paying no never mind to what was in between that oh-so-patriotic title.
