Here is my understanding, so please correct me if I'm incorrect.
1- CenturyLink seems to be the culprit in many cases.
2- I believe Elad said the DU ISP is talking to Centurylink
3- DU servers are working ok now, per Elad.
4- Not sure what's going on with DNS servers nationwide or world-wide.
never did before, now its hit and miss.

(8,646 posts)but my isp is usually behind on this stuff, so just as DU starts working smoothly for you, that's when my problems will start. Hope it gets fixed.

(86,612 posts)Been this way since sometime Friday.
The fix (there are others posted on one of the other links about this but this one works for me):
http://sync.democraticunderground.com
Best results are when you start with this at the home page, any other link to a thread that you click on from there will convert to the "sync" prefix. If you find a link in a post that starts with "www" just open a new tab, paste that link in the URL window but change the "www" to "sync" before you hit "go". Problem solved.
I also bookmarked the home page link with the alternative address so i can just get here normally.

(8,175 posts)After deleting all old cookies and clearing my cache...still no go. I tried the DU link on Google and it won't open the home page. I tried the "current events" link below that and it wouldn't open. I found a thread link and that lets me sneak in the back door and once I'm in I'm OK, but the home page is still not completely loading.

(6,205 posts)just now I was able to get on with no problem and no waiting. Other times I can't get on at all.
Elad
(11,395 posts)There's some sort of network issue causing packet loss between them, and it's a link between CenturyLink and DU's ISP, DCANet.
Our ISP has told me that PCCW has responded to their inquiries and has not found a problem on their end, but Qwest and CenturyLink have not responded yet.
We'll keep you updated but it may be helpful to have CenturyLink customers contacting them as well mentioning this issue.
