"SNIP.......................
Clinton not only tops every GOP candidate (including a "generic" Republican) in every national poll, she is also a big favorite of the Latino community.
Back in 2008, Clinton won the Hispanic vote in the Super Tuesday primaries by a two to one margin. In states like California, New York and New Jersey, she checked the Obama campaign.
In terms of support in 2016, polling shows that Clinton would carry the Latino vote even if Republicans nominate a Latino candidate like Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
Not only do Latinos like Clinton, but they are also motivated by the GOP's immigration reform blockade. That's a very powerful combination that is likely to influence not just the 2016 election, but 2020 and beyond.

(23,548 posts)and that is causing lots more anger and mistrust among many in the Hispanic community. Families are being separated a lot and it's not pretty.

(9,118 posts)I wish. Texas Republicans have about as little to fear from Texas Latinos as their counterparts in Alabama and Mississippi. The reason has little to do with voter suppression; it's because too many Texas Latinos don't vote. Texas Hispanics are about as numerous as Euro-American Texans, yet they don't vote in nearly the same proportions as their Euro-American or Afro-American counterparts.
Until the day that Texas Hispanics choose to demonstrate their displeasure with Republican obstructionism by throwing Republicans out of office, Texas Republicans will continue to act like they have a green light to harass immigrants, cut rural health clinics, deny access to gunocological and reproductive care, and cut funding to public education.
Sidelining themselves by not voting is not a successful strategy. Texas Hispanics need to learn to use the ballot box not just to reward their friends, but send their foes packing.
