MSNBC announced the news in a statement on Tuesday. Díaz-Balart currently hosts the news on Telemundo, and anchors the network's Sunday public affairs show "Enfoque." He will host his MSNBC show from Miami, and continue his current role at Telemundo.

Meanwhile, Jansing is leaving the timeslot to be NBC News' new White House correspondent. Díaz-Balart tweeted about his new gig Tuesday:

opinionated, both good imo. We shall see.

I'm happy he got the gig; I am also happy msnbc has chosen to hire an Hispanic, someone to represent so many Americans. I imagine that's where his focus might be.

I disagree with their politics, but nothing can take away from the fact that the Diaz - Balart boys are a wildly overachieving family. The Castro Brothers in Texas remind me of the Diaz-Balarts, but with far more likable politics.

I always like Chris. She was pretty straightforward when doing the day's news stories and interviews, and was a pleasant break from the "Schmuck Toad GOP Talking Points Show™".

Glad to see her with the new power broker gig and glad to see the continued focus on diversity. Will need to see how Díaz-Balart formats the show before commenting. Now if they could just get rid of Schmuck (and have him take Scumboro with him).

I've seen him in recent months appearing quite frequently on various msnbc shows, this makes sense.
I believe it's also an appeal to the latino/hispanic viewership, which should improve ratings.
I think it's a good fit.
I wish him luck and continued success.
