Big Science, Inc. Blows it Again.

Once again Big Science has blown it, and given its dubious blessing to a dangerous product which has caused serious harm to human beings. The fundamentalist attitude of Big Science, Inc. and its herd of sockpuppets has created it's own degenerate Wide World of Woo, Inc.

Citizens who value and respect independent science are naturally appalled at how perverse, profit-driven Corporate Science, Inc. has so often, produced & promulgated dangerous Crocks O' Corporate WOO.

The story of how Big Science, Inc. blew it this time was reported last night on a repeat broadcast of CBS 60 Minutes about how the so-called legal drug Ambien -- infamous for a host of pernicious "side-effects" -- has been prescribed in equal doses for both men and women.

Now -- long after the corporate drug horse escaped the barn to gallop after profit -- the drug company and the FDA are all "whoops," so sorry, our bad. They are furiously mouthing claims they have, um, fixed it.

Independent science is a great boon to humankind. But as this and so many other outrageous examples demonstrate, Corporate Science frequently screws up.

as "Big Science". There is however a "Big Pharma" which this post seems to be about. Science is done by anybody that cares. You don't have to belong to any Club or University, or any Business. You only need your brain and have your ideas (hypothesis) checked and confirmed by other reputable scientists. Once your hypothesis is checked and checked again, you can publish your results and let the entire scientific community examine your work. If no one after several years can find any fault in your findings your hypothesis becomes "Theory" which in the Scientific world means FACT. And here little ol you did this all by your lonesome... If anything Science is "Small" and usually done in small groups or by a single person...

Hypothesis: the pimping of GMO mutant food and associated toxic chemicals, and the attack on the feminine in general and Dr. Vandana Shiva in particular, is spearheaded by GMO-infected Corporate Ambien Zombies.

Ambien (zolpidem) belongs to a class of drugs called sedatives or hypnotics. Ambien (zolpidem) is used for treating insomnia. A generic formulation is available. The most common side effects of Ambien (zolpidem) are drowsiness, dizziness, and a "drugged" feeling. Other side effects include confusion, insomnia, euphoria, ataxia (balance problems), and visual changes. Ambien (zolpidem) can cause withdrawal symptoms (muscle cramps, sweats, shaking, and seizures).

Woo is a word used for pseudoscience, which is characterized by appearing scientific on its face, but not adhering to a valid scientific method with its claims. Refusal to submit a claim to independent testing, peer review, or making claims which cannot be tested by methodological naturalistic means makes something pseudoscience.

Using chemical compounds to alter the behavior of the human body is not pseudoscience.

This is, yet again, a failure to separate economics and ethics issues from scientific issues.

Is it not legal? (It is). Is it not a drug? (It is).
