Alan Alda is that he is a kind and gentle man. A true gentleman. Even though his character was a bit of a Lothario, the women seemed to hold the ultimate say over how they were to be accessed by him sexually. Though susceptible to his charms, they always held the No card, and no harm ever came to them for playing it.

developed into a caring and intelligent human.

I watch reruns of this show all the time and I've noticed how much has changed over the years.

Did you watch the show when it was first run on prime time broadcast television, or is your experience with it based upon viewing in the years since it ended taping?

I'd imagine he'd have some insight into that character. I'm not saying he IS that character...I'm saying he'd know about misogyny.

There are too many people hellbent on keeping their old and antiquated attitude when it comes to race, homosexuality, sex and anything else that is 'different'.

It was funny, I went to a school in rural Pennsylvania that was for the most part 100% white, christian (catholics & protestants). Lacking any minorities in our school they found a way to bully others - someone too smart or 'too-white' (yes I know but I was razzed for 12 years because I was too pale. I rarely went out in the sun but I got the last laugh, I look 10-20 years younger than those gals you teased me mercilessly).

There is some inate behavior than in the end we have to be hating on something and it's our 'God given and first amendment right to do just that'

I don't think it's possible to get rid of classism unless we get rid of classes. As long as there is classism, and certain races are largely in the lower classes, there will be racism.

from the minute they are born until they minute they pass away. It's on teevee, in school, in the workplace. It is everywhere. There are some of us that teach our children what misogyny is all about but we are very much in the minority.
