General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWell, WCGreen had a good day today...Have a look:
The music therapist came by, and she played her guitar, and her keyboard (not simultaneously!) and we all sang or used a musical instrument of some sort.Chris had a couple of small egg-shaped things you shake...rattles? I guess, and he really was grooving to the music.
The prognosis is still grim, but we are carrying on. Nobody knows just what to think.

Remember, preparing for the worst doesn't mean you can't hope for the best. He looks good, awake, alert and completely engaged. There's still a small chance he can fool the doctors.
I so want that to happen.

(10,751 posts)...bring him music and loving companionship. At this point, it will have at least as much healing effect as antibiotics -- remind WC why he wants to hang around!
Hang in there, WC! I really, really hope you are able to turn a corner to good health.
Thanks so much for sharing with us CP. You are, obviously, a true friend.

(20,219 posts)I had a stomach ache after work, but when I woke up a bit ago and saw this, I said, Dammit Blanche! Get up and chant some more for Chris! (sat down and sent him and Laurie strong chanting vibes the other day, when you first shared pics.)
Just in the middle now of an hour of chanting nam-myoho-renge-kyo for Chris!!!!
"Live with a dancing spirit. The stars in the heavens are dancing through space, the Earth never ceases to spin. All life is dancing: the trees with the wind, the waves on the sea, the birds, the fish, all are performing their own dance of life. Every living thing is dancing, and you must keep dancing too, for the rest of your life!"--- Daisaku Ikeda

Mail Message
On Fri Jun 6, 2014, 10:33 AM an alert was sent on the following post:
Well, WCGreen had a good day today...Have a look:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10025056018
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Behind Curtain #1 is "Expose a naked dying man to the tender mercies of the Internet." Behind Curtain #2 is "Don't fucking do that, you stupid asshole." Which one would you choose?
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Jun 6, 2014, 10:39 AM, and the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Alerter can always trash thread or use "Trash by word" feature. Personally, I find the OPs to be slightly awkward and uncomfortable, but certainly not worthy of an alert.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: This is California Peggy's post and there is no better member of the DU community. (((((California Peggy)))))
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Wow alerter. You seem to have a lot of hate in you. This is the first time I have felt pity for an alerter. I wish I could alert on your alert. I would love to know who you are so I could read all of your insensitive, assholish, mean, dickhead posts. I hope this goes 7-0 so you can not alert for 24 hours. In fact, your alerting privileges should be taken away forever. Go away.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Worst alert I've seen.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Huh?
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I can't believe this tribute to an ailing long time DUer, was turned into something dirty.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(21,210 posts)one needs to enjoy the moment and focus on the happy times.
Thank you very much for sharing and especially for caring so much CP ... as this is when it really counts! It is easy to be friends during the good times, so many times people shy away when things become tough.
As my sister said to me when my husband was in the hospital ... during the difficult times you find out who is in your lifeboat and who is not.
Angels sometimes come from unexpected places

(149,615 posts)You are so right about all of this.
I was thinking tonight how glad I am that I'm here. This has been a really good week. I have learned what happened to Chris and why he's so sick. I've gotten to hug and kiss him and talk to him. And of course, all the pictures!
I had to be here. He has been such an important influence in my life and I really needed to say goodbye, to acknowledge his huge influence on me.
Thank you for your wisdom and for your very kind words...

(21,210 posts)it began with memories of my daughter singing songs with my Mom in her hospital bed when she was four to this past week when she graduated from her residency program and the keynote speaker mentioning an article from 1957 and cautioning the graduates of today against "Medicine's Seven Deadly Sins"
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1823730/?page=1
Thanks for being an angel to Chris and his family when it matters, too many friends and family disappear when times get times get tough.
Hold onto those good memories and draw strength in the months ahead.
