I'm creating a music compilation, and the title will be "Happy Songs"
You know the kind....nothing deep, nothing political, just the kinds of songs (no matter how corny)
that you'd like to hear cruising in your car, or having some friends by the pool. I'm looking for suggestions.
Here's what I have so far.
1. Dancing on the ceiling - Lionel Ritchie
2. Right here right now - Jesus Jones
3. Kokomo - Beach Boys
4. Walking on Sun Shine - Katrina and Wave
5. Love the one your with - Stephan Stills
6. I'm a Believer - Monkeys
7. Escapade - Janet Jackson
8. Happy - Pharrell
9. I just wanna Celebrate - Rare Earth
suggestions?

(9,275 posts)Was "our song" with my very first BF (give away my age, it was a hit that fall.) He found me on FB and I soon discovered he's now a Tea Party Patriot. I can't bear to unfriend him so I just ignore his posts and "like" the cute pics of his grandkids.

(46,179 posts)I probably haven't listened to either of these songs in well over a decade, yet I saw your post, played them and could still sing along, word for word with as much enthusiasm as I did back in the 70s.
Thanks for bringing them back to mind.

Great tunes, glad you enjoyed them.

Here are two that might fit better: Starbuck "Moonlight Feels Right" (love this song):
and the Happiest Song on Earth, "Down by the Lazy River" by the Osmonds

(8,646 posts)I went through what I have and I didn't find much 'happy' music. Everything is depressing/sad/grungy/goth lol. I love anything sad.
I have Happy by Pharrell though. Another one I like is "Paradise city" by GnR even though it's so sexist. I loved it when it first came out and it's always made me feel happy. "Breathe" by Michelle Branch. "Hella Good" by No Doubt. That's about all I have that isn't depressing.

(27,172 posts)I live in AZ, and that song will always be connected with a recall election we had for a crazy governor by the name of Ev Mecham.
Anyway, a local radio station did a parody of the song called, "Brand New Gov'nor"

Yikes!
He was hot. Now, I have to say, not so much.
I'm torn about plastic surgery.
On the one hand, I feel there should be freedom of choice and the ability to do what you need to do to find your happiness. On the other hand, sometimes I wonder if it is a search for something that could be better reached through other means such as therapy, personal growth, spirituality, etc.
When I see people like him it makes me sad because from the outside, it looks like someone who is unhappy with themselves and not comfortable in their own skin.
But, I try not to judge too harshly, because, what do I really know about their state of mind?

(53,072 posts)This is my happy album, Banda Eva ao vivo. I listen to it while driving. It's Brazilian, carnival music from Bahia.
Track 6, Leva eu, is especially happy.
Celebration by Kool and the Gang is another happy one.

(1,233 posts)Much of John Denver's discography- "Annie's song," "Sunshine on my Shoulders," "Rocky Mountain High."
James Taylor's "Carolina."
Paul Simon's "Kodachrome."
"Romeo's Tune" (Steve Forbert?)
"Wake me up before you go go" by WHAM!
And nothing makes me happier than cranking Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" all the way to 11 when I'm driving.

Queen - One Vision:
Queen - The Miracle
Queen - You're My Best Friend:
I am on a Queen kick because I'm paralyzed with excitement because I'm gonna see Brian (That's Doctor Brian May) and Roger the drummer and Adam Lambert next week!
Back in the 70s and 80s I didn't realize how good they were because all I heard was loud heavy stuff like We Will Rock You, which was almost heavy metal. And I don't like metal of any kind. I didn't realize they did melodic stuff too.
