NEWS FLASH - SCOTUS Replaces Constitution With Theocracy.

This kind of decision opens the back door to theocracy and religious based government. Follow the logic to its very end, if corporations can use religion as a defense, Hobby Lobby can legally hire only Catholics or Christians or even people who do not practice birth control. They can even fire people for using contraception because they violate company policy that would NOT allow use of family planning.

This decision is astronomical. Talk about the Pope ruling the country.

And while it is being said that this ruling is 'narrow', we all know that it opens that door enough to turn us fully into a theocracy.

Then, it's all over but the fighting among the sects of Christianity to determine whose theology is going to be supreme.

I wonder if HL will demand that employees account for each and every penny they are paid in order to ensure that they aren't accidentally paying for some kind of 'sin'.

But, that's the way it is being spun, so I referenced it as such.

Sorry if I was unclear in my post, it has been a rough morning around here.

But, I can see it chipping away at the rights of workers too.

I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I'm starting to lose hope.

However, I'm also setting up a time to make phone calls for the upcoming election, because turnout is the most important factor and we need to win as much as we can in this one.

8. In A Sense They Have Given Employers With Religious Beliefs Power.

Because labor laws are so weak and almost all employment is work at will employers can use any excuse to fire an employee. So even if something is not company policy you could be fired for spurious reasons that are rooted in an employers disapproval of your life choices. The Catholic school system has been firing teachers on moral grounds for a long time. Like having sex outside of marriage and getting pregnant or being openly gay.

I think you only see these in fiction (as of right now), and they are only in extremely dystopian tales.

How telling...

12. They addressed restricting hiring practices in the decision.

The principal dissent raises the possibility that discrimination in hiring, for example on the basis of race, might be cloaked as religious practice to escape legal sanction. See post, at 32–33. Our decision today provides no such shield. The Government has a compelling interest in providing an equal opportunity to participate in the workforce without regard to race, and prohibitions on racial discrimination are precisely tailored to achieve that critical goal.

From the decision.

Of course this could end up being just the first step towards that.
