The current radical SCOTUS has gutted the voting rights act, done everything possible to allow unlimited political contributions, and now theyve made women subservient to the religious views of the majority of American employers.
So heres the question: What do we do now?
For all who say, Weve got to push back, what do you suggest we do? Revolution? Aint gonna happen. Impeachment of Scalia et.al.? Aint gonna happen. Win this years elections with a House Democratic majority and a veto-proof Democratic Senate? Aint gonna happen. All we can do is show up, vote, and do our best to hold onto the Senate.
In the long run, this SCOTUS will be gone. The currents of history are against them. There have always been those who are against progress and today they have taken the form of the Republican Party, the teabaggers, the bigots, the patriots who wave their flags in your face, and the so-called Christians who are trying to force feed you their diseased concept of religion. They will lose and be relegated to irrelevance. But the damage they are doing will take a long time to repair. It is always easier to destroy than to build.
Right now, we are all mad as hell. The thought that our beliefs/values will eventually win doesnt give us much immediate comfort. But we need patience. What makes the present so difficult for us is that many of us may not be around to see the eventual triumph of sanity.
On edit: This post is in no way a suggestion that we just wait and do nothing. We must do everything we can to fight them every hour of every day.

(11,833 posts)is a viable goal. Chances of winnability should not enter the equation. Every single victory is better than defeat.
We should nominate more progressive women candidates across the board at every level - local, state and federal.
I agree we're mad as hell and giving up is not an option. I don't know about the eventual triumph of sanity, but it's worth fighting for our present and future and for those of future generations.
On a social level, let everyone know the Affordable Care Act is the law of the land. Don't support a company that claims exceptions.
Let everyone know that women should never be treated as second class citizens.
Reinvigorate efforts to ratify an Equal Rights Amendment.

(9,148 posts)of everyone from here thru election day. I agree with you as to how exactly do we keep the current outrage prominent?
I would start with requesting a separate FORUM for information & opinion to connect us all who would like to contribute in some way. Many of us meet here but as far as becoming a part of a much larger, louder, & hard driving serious force for election day, we need to meet daily in a separate FORUM. Great info & posts get lost quickly in GD & Latest threads.
So much hinges on this coming election and keeping informed here on DU is critical in continuing the drumbeat .
This SC issue is key to November voter turnout.
May we request a forum perhaps?
Here are a couple of my links for starters. I have begun linking others posts to mine so the info doesn't disappear.
Please add your own links and maybe we can create a close network for future reference as we see the ramifications of the SC decision play out.

We are all smart & savvy & anyone compelled by this issue needs a place to store & read info as it occurs.
How do we get a separate forum started? Walk me through this.

I would like to keep an eye on Hobby Lobby profits in the next few months, or stock prices if they have a market to watch.
It will tell us a lot.
