supermarket because cuz had a Bobby Kennedy sign in her front yard? This happened in Southern California. Or are you talking about people like most of our fine Republican neighbors in the east bay around the same time who refused to allow their kids to play with my brothers and me because our parents were the second Democrats to move to the neighborhood? These are just two of many examples from my early life I can cite.

I'm well aware of the difference between politicians and their constituents. The only local repubs at the time who didn't seem to care about my folks party affiliation were our then senator (R) and his family.

I find most references to "old school republicans" being somehow different than todays republicans to be laughable. But perhaps I have some unique experiences.
