Brutal, sickening: Video of American teen being beaten by Israeli police

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/06/world/middleeast/beating-of-palestinian-american-boy-caught-on-video.html?_r=0

15-year-old Tariq Abu Khdeir, an American high school student from Tampa, Florida, was beaten and jailed by Israeli police in what his mother called an “attempted murder” the day after his cousin, 16-year-old Muhammed Abu Khdeir, was burned to death in what is believed to be a revenge attack for the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli Jewish teens. Tariq was on summer vacation with his parents and sisters in Jerusalem, visiting family. He was arrested Thursday, when video clips posted online show police in riot gear repeatedly beating a young Palestinian and dragging him away. Photos of Tariq in prison show his severely bruised and swollen face—so much so that his mother says she barely recognized him when she first saw him after the arrest.

He must have slipped and hurt his face. Everyone knows the Israelis are kind and respectful while occupying the Palestinian's land, unlike the ungrateful Palestinians who are terrorists and don't appreciate all the Israeli occupiers do for them.

Wait until you see other DU'ers justifying / obfuscating the beating, or attacking you for talking about it, as some are doing in malaise's thread about the murder of Tariq's cousin.

Israel Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld was quoted by the New York Times as saying that the footage was "edited and biased," and that it "did not represent the scope of events."

The Jamaican Commissioner of police was summoned to King's House where they played two taped incriminating him and he retired following accumulated leave.
My understanding of the situation is that he was implicated in police death squads in Clarendon, Jamaica.
Word is that all his visas were revokes - US, Canadian and British (Euro). Jamaica received funding and aid from all of these countries.
I discovered that Patrick Leahy's addition to a US bill re financial aid to foreign security forces ties aid to human rights practices and violations.

Sure there are loads of contradictions given the militaristic training, etc., but money can be cut off if there are human rights violations. Until Israel pays a financial cost for the apartheid treatment of Palestinians, there will be no change.
