If that Klein hit piece in the WP wasn't sufficiently smelly just on the merits of the author and the source, I offer the following (at the risk of raising the wrath of the DU chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Dead Horses):

The New York Post leads with a story today about a secret plan for President Obama to throw his support behind Sen. Elizabeth Warren for the 2016 Democratic nomination instead of Hillary Clinton. Let's have a look at this.
Edward Klein writes:
Publicly, Obama has remained noncommittal on the 2016 race, but privately he worries that Clinton would undo and undermine many of his policies. Theres also a personal animosity, especially with Bill Clinton, that dates from their tough race six years ago."
I would say the first red flag here is that Obama, despite having initially campaigned from the left, has governed (to the frustration of some) largely from the center. This is where Hillary perches. This idea that a Clinton presidency would "undo and undermine" the president's policies just seems silly.

(5,790 posts)Politics is politics. Bill Clinton threw his support behind the President in 2012 and made one helluva speech at the convention. All of that was done in the reasonable expectation that the Obamas would support the Clintons in 2012. Also, the Rodhams are old-school Chicago politics, and the President has his roots there.

(19,564 posts)It's just another attempt to cut Hillary off at the knees before 2016 and try and create a divide among Democrats. This is just an example of the GOP's best laid plans for 2016. They seem to think they can toss out some BS here and there and they're going to string us along by our noses, just like they've done to their own base for decades.

(11,785 posts)Punning on "Warren" to imply "war"? That's bullshit. If both Warren and Clinton decide to throw their hats in the ring, that's not a war: it's a primary season.
