I was in the upper Florida Keys this morning

to support my friends who are fighting for a landmark decision to allow gay marriage.

Judge Garcia is the most awesome of our judges here and I know that he will be our best hope to interpret the law in terms of equality. I'm so hopeful!

A quick view into the audience:

I came in support of my friends and neighbors, but also, heart in my throat, to add to our numbers since we had heard that there might be "goons" present from the Miami area.

Here was the scene at the courthouse: Dozens of neighbors and friends bringing doughnuts and coffee and umbrellas. Lots of laughter and hugs.

Sometime into the last ten minutes before the court proceedings started, a man (who actually resembled a terrorist in a bad suit) stood in the aisle with a pad of stickers that said "Don't tread on my civil rights."

No one took a sticker from him.

Ten minutes later four HUGE goons in suits with the above stickers on their black suits entered the courthouse.

They were pretty much ignored.

Sadly, I had to leave at that point, since I'm a nurse and had early patients.

I understand that the judge announced early on that he would not have anything to declare today.

Stay tune... More to come!!
