Refugee vs. Illegal Immigration

A refugee is a person who is outside their home country because they have suffered (or feared) persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or because they are a member of a persecuted social category of persons or because they are fleeing a war. Such a person may be called an 'asylum seeker' until recognized by the state where they make a claim.[1]

Illegal immigration refers to the migration of people across national borders, or the residence of foreign nationals in a country, in a way that violates the immigration laws of the destination country.

Illegal immigration is overwhelmingly upward, from a poorer to a richer country.[1] One measurable factor is the ‘push-pull’ incentive - the quality of life in the host country against the home country.

Maybe it's time to change the narrative....
