Frankly, I hope the Republicans DO try to impeach Obama.

Obama has probably run one of the most scandal free White Houses in modern American history, and though the Republicans have tried their best to drum up all these faux scandals, everything they've thrown at him hasn't really stuck (and certainly can't point to impeachment). So, any impeachment hearing will be built on sensationalism and politics - which won't work for the GOP.

It didn't in '98 and it certainly won't in 2015 (when they most likely will try).

My guess is that it doesn't happen because guys like Boehner know how damaging it could be to the party brand - especially with a presidential election around the corner. They got nothing stronger than suing him because he delayed implementation of a law they voted to repeal 50+ times.

Our USSC lacks credibility, so I'm a bit scared of this, but only a bit. Pressing this, or anything along this line, can't be good for R's this close to the mid-terms. So I get your point. Repubs know that the Dems got a majority of votes for House members last cycle, that doesn't bode well for them, if voter turnout is anything like '12.

It all comes back to GOTV.
