I made sure my kids knew about him. One of them even did a term paper on him during high school.

My oldest did her undergrad work in Wisconsin, at Lawrence, in Joe's home town of Appleton WI. They are not proud of him there. They are much more likely to remind people that Houdini and Edna Ferber came from their city.
