MSNBC continuing with live coverage tomorrow and Sunday daytime of all the latest

Last edited Sat Jul 19, 2014, 12:13 AM - Edit history (2)

bad news. Ari Melber is in for Lawrence. Rachel said they'd keep reporting live all weekend -- hard to believe that will continue, but who knows, they have to compete with CNN and their plane expert Richard Quest.

** Not continuing now, it's Prison currently

The focus was "Consider the Source". She did an excellent job of breaking down what is factual and known about the shooting down of MH17 versus the speculation, media hype, propaganda from Russian media outlet RT, etc.

It was excellent.

I haven't seen her digging into it like that for a while and when she's good she's freakin' psychic and hits all the points. She brings up the obvious too but always before others are just getting their storyline together.

it was quite damning as to who is more likely to have shot down MH17 and without speculation, hyperbole or conspiracy theories. She has a wonderful way of building her case by first showing what is and isn't 'there' and then, boom, she gets to the heart of it. She is one of the best, imo.

to use that weapon was a key point to bring up. Doesn't sound like a rag tag separatist could pull that off. She was very cool with her delivery and I appreciate the lack of excess emotion when the truth needs to be dug out.

Chris Hayes did well with the IDF guy as well, but that was hard to hear.

U.S. officials: Pro-Russian rebels likely couldn't down plane alone

"Based on signals the missile system gave off, analysts identified it as likely to be a Russian-made SA-11, a sophisticated system of radars, command posts and launchers. Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said the rebels probably couldn't have operated on their own.

"It strains credulity to think that it could be used by separatists without at least some measure of Russian support and technical assistance," Kirby said."

I love her shows and try to always catch them when I can, this one was one of her best, imo. She started by pointing out the ridiculousness of the RT coverage and then pointed out the hyperbole and grasping of unsubstantiated material by the mainstream media and finished with itemizing what is known, what is factual which showed why the pro-Russian gangs are most likely the ones who shot down the plane after being trained on the SAM system by Russia. It really was stellar.

She showed a low-key press briefing from a NATO military person, I forget his name and position, held two weeks BEFORE the shooting of the plane reporting that Russian personnel were training the pro-Russian gang members on the SAM system which was subsequently used to shoot down the civilian plane. He also reported the SAM system was first on the Russian side of the border then was moved to the Ukrainian side held by the gangs. It was excellent.
