A Lexington teen is recovering after he set himself on fire while performing a dangerous online stunt.

The 15-year-old boy told WKYT he was attempting to take part in something known as a fire challenge, where a person pours alcohol on their skin and lights it on fire. Videos of people doing the challenge have shown up online.

"I just poured alcohol on it, and lit it, and it just automatically went and burst," the teenager, who didn't want his name used, told us.

A 15-year-old boy has died after participating in a game that is circulating on the popular social network FaceBook. James Shores was burned to death after his entire body was engulfed in flames.

The #FireChallenge involves covering your body with an accelerant and setting yourself on fire. One’s friends will then video the act and share it on the internet. The imbecilic act is supposed to elicit laughter as onlookers and internet viewers watch the reaction from the party who is on fire.

FaceBook is doing their part by deleting all #FireChallege videos off of their website.

What's next? The shoot yourself in the head challenge? Oh, I know. This:

Space Monkey Challenge: Space Monkey is a game that teens play where a person either chokes his/herself or has someone else do it until they almost pass out. It can cause brain damage due to lack of oxygen to the brain.
