Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem pen open letter to stop the genocide in Gaza!!

In an open letter referenced by Europa Press and other Spanish media, they described Israel's actions as "genocide."
STORY Talk About Anything Political in Hollywood ... Except Gaza
They also called on the European Union to "condemn the bombing by land, sea and air against the Palestinian civilian population in the Gaza Strip."
In the open letter, they demanded a cease-fire by the Israeli military and urged Israel to "lift the blockade, which the Gaza Strip has suffered for more than a decade."
The letter also said: "Gaza is living through horror these days, besieged and attacked by land, sea and air. Palestinians' homes are being destroyed, they are being denied water, electricity [and] free movement to their hospitals, schools and fields while the international community does nothing."

More people are speaking out at the horror we are witnessing. This has nothing to do with anti-semitism and everything to do
with standing by innocent civilians. They are wiping them out. No schools, hospitals, electricity, or homes to go to. 40% of Gaza is gone. Israel is losing the PR battle.

1. Well, now that Penelope Cruz

has made public her thoughts, I'm sure Israel will see the error of its way and immediately stop.

kept quiet. It is ok to disagree with Israeli policy and war tactics. This does not make you an anti-Semite.
I think Israel has botched this war effort and they can no longer control the optics or the propaganda narrative.
They can find and destroy tunnels without killing 200 children.

WHAT Penelope Cruz thinks about any given issue, including this one. I'm not sure many people do.

6. It's not about her opinion. What is important is that it is becoming the popular opinion.

Israel can no longer act with impunity. Their actions will and should be questioned. Why do we continue to fund this
atrocity. More people will begin to demand answers. Why are so many children dying. The spin is not working on the
public. Destroy the tunnels and save the people.

One celebrity posted on their twitter in support of Palestinians and took it down after a torrent of negative responses. Those who support the decimation of Palestine are unafraid to do so.

This dynamic has to change and high profile individuals can help by taking a stand.

I hope more celebrities speak out and turn more eyes on the deaths of civilians.

7. What is happening is horrible. But it's not "genocide"

Genocide has a defined meaning in international law: "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life, calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

The "in part" aspect has been held by international tribunals to mean a "substantial part" (i.e., a part large enough to have a significant impact on the survival of the group as a whole).

There are 1.8 million Palestinians in Gaza. There are another 2.7 million in the West Bank. While the killing of even one non-combatant civilian is horrible, let alone more than a 1000 (although not all of that number are non-combatants), it trivializes the concept of genocide to use that term to refer to what is happening in Gaza.

bombing campaign has on the children of Gaza will be severe. Those left alive to cope without homes and loss of family
members. I know that war goes on around the world, however, this uneven attack that we are watching and that is being documented is horrific. It will have a lasting impact on the people of Gaza.

I do know they don't have an understanding of what the word genocide means. I will go out on a limb and guess they are 1%ers.

Not sure how you can say they aren't. They are actually in the top half of the 1%ers after doing a quick search. Not like they just made it into the club. They are with the top half of the club.

46% of Spaniards hold negative opinions of Jews according to Pew.

The media in Spain (and some of their leaders) have a large role in this, for example the media claims that neoconservatism was a Jewish invention and that Jewish neocons are trying to dominate the world.
