Western Troops Shot Dead at Afghanistan's Camp Qargha, ISAF Says
KABUL, Afghanistan - Multiple Western soldiers were killed Tuesday after a man wearing an Afghan army uniform opened fire at a military academy near Afghanistan's capital, officials said.
U.S. officials told NBC News that as many as 12 soldiers - most, if not all, American - were shot in the attack. A spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force confirmed "fatalities' after "a shooting incident involving ISAF and Afghan troops," but could not confirm the number of victims or their nationalities.
Gen. Mohammmad Zahir Azimi, a spokesman for Afghanistan's Defense Ministry, tweeted in Dari that the gunman was wearing Afghan military uniform and opened fire on Afghan and international colleagues before being shot dead.
The shooting happened at Camp Qargha, which is located west of Kabul, the ISAF spokesman said. The camp includes the National Military Academy of Afghanistan, which was reconstructed after the 2001 invasion. It is based on the design of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Qargha, which is overseen by the British military, is sometimes called "Sandhurst in the sand" in a reference to the British military's own officers' training school.

Mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. Bring all them home. Killing solves only one thing and that is stopping a heart from beating, as if that needed solved.
The people of Afghanistan did not attack us on 911. They say some cave dwellers who were residing there did, I have my doubts about the official explanation, but that is for another reply at another time. Today I just want to see the killing stopped, on our side as well as theirs.
