OK... Sometimes I'm Schmaltzy... But THIS Is Why I Stay... The Ultimate Hope... So Sue Me...

Lyrics:

"Imagine"

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one.

activism.

He/She became disenheartened when her/his posts that provided information about tools that could make the situation better fell off the main page. And rather, those simply chronicling the tragedy were wildly promoted.

Too many people are spectators.

A person can have hope. But you can't realize that hope without commitment.

I hope bigtree puts that energy toward activism. People are acting like he quit his ideals because he's no longer into DU flagellation. So many are discussing his work because he was so influential. I hope he shares what he's been up to.

At least that is about the time it all started to go to hell.

But the truth is that those who really believed in it never changed...at least most of them.
It is just that the idea was defeated by those who hated it...and with violence.

"Imagine there's no heaven." NOOOO! God will punish you if you do that. Honestly, I really worried about it. It took awhile before I screwed up the courage to try imagining it . . . and didn't get struck by lightning.

I think a lot of people, grown-ups included, still feel scared. Their religious leaders have drilled them to believe any doubt will lead to burning in flames for all eternity. That's a pretty good motivation to avoid this particular exercise in imagination.

I still have trouble imagining no possessions. Animals live that way, mostly, though some are territorial. Human beings typically don't claim ownership of the oceans, just every square inch of dry land. It's still hard to imagine people breaking out of the mindset of "this is mine, that is yours" into "everything is ours." I can't really see us avoiding all fights over who gets the last cookie.

And then, poor John got murdered by another gun nut for no valid reason but pure insanity.

The Dream Is Over came after Imagine, right?
