Anthony Weiner calls Sen. Warren's comments "overblown" and "petty"

Excerpt from column by Senator Warren on Huff Po:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/elizabeth-warren/anthony-weiner-revolving-door_b_5835682.html

Anthony Weiner and the Revolving Door
When former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) took a job with the investment bank Moelis & Co. earlier this month shortly after resigning his Congressional seat, he became the latest example of the tight-knit relationship between Wall Street and Washington. In an interview, I called this out for what it is: another sign that the revolving door still spins freely in Washington. Cantor had little experience in financial services, and the value of people like him to Wall Street firms is influence peddling, plain and simple.

Wall Street's outsized influence in our nation's capital is something I've talked about for a long time -- long before I even thought about running for office. But where I see a problem -- an infestation, really -- a lot of others in Washington, both Democrats and Republicans, seem to see government working just fine.

So when former Congressman Anthony Weiner -- a Democrat from New York -- dismissed my concerns, it was business as usual. Identifying himself as a liberal, Weiner called my criticism of the revolving door culture "overblown" and "petty."

Warren's HuffPo column procedes to decimate Weiner's position, chapter and verse.

I thought the deal was that Huma Abedin promised her boss, HRC to keep her husband, Anthony on the down low, i.e., out of the public eye until if & when Hillary got elected to that office for which she is not yet officially running. Did Weiner run that column past Huma/Hillary ahead of time? But here's Weiner calling Warren's criticism of the Wall Street revolving door "overblown" and "petty". Those 2 adjectives are better applied to the family jewels in the selfies Weiner posted.

Here's the link to the Business Insider web page where Weiner mouthed off. Hmmm. Perhaps Hillary & Huma are not as confident as HRC's supporters that Senator Warren will not be running for president.

Pretty empty, he seems to take issue with Senator Warren's use of the "revolving door" metaphor.

Big deal. What a Weiner.

In her interview with Katie Couric of Yahoo! News, Warren said Cantor's move was exemplary of a "revolving door" between D.C. and the finance world. She also suggested it was evidence of a disturbing phenomenon where "people in government are looking for that next job."

But is Cantor really sprinting through an unseemly “revolving door?” Well, it is a door and a lucrative one at that. But revolving? If he wants to return to politics, maybe his Wall Street connections will help him raise money for a future campaign, but fund raising has never been a problem for him. Also, going to an investment bank is probably one of the least helpful places to go because of fundraising rules that limit how much those in that industry can donate. And if the implication is that he is going to work in an industry he once regulated, well isn’t that true of literally every industry?

Warren went on to claim former politicians who go to Wall Street "head straight out into the industry, not because they bring great expertise and insight, but because they're selling access back in to their former colleagues who are still writing policy, who are still making laws."

Well, who wants to buy access to Members of Congress anyway? If Congress were a hotbed of lawmaking and problem solving, maybe you can argue that hiring one of their former leaders was a play at getting in that legislative pipeline. But today? Thanks to Eric Cantor, the House of Representatives is the absolute last place to turn if you wanted to accomplish something. And the law prohibits Cantor from contacting members or their staffs about legislation for a year.

http://pagesix.com/2014/06/25/hillary-made-a-secret-deal-with-huma-to-keep-weiner-quiet/

Clinton aides have insisted Weiner “stay out of public life for two years” and that he “avoid causing any further embarrassment to Huma or Clinton,” according to our sources.

The former sexting pol has been noticeably absent at recent public events attended by Abedin, including the Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner in Manhattan earlier this month. Nor has he appeared at the recent plethora of New York galas and awards dinners attended by the Clintons, such as the Wildlife Conservation Society Gala on June 12 and the Carnegie Hall Medal of Excellence Gala on April 24.

While a spokesman for Clinton insists the talk of a deal with Weiner is “1,000 percent absurd,” a well-placed source told us, “He has been put on notice by Clinton aides to keep a low profile and remain out of sight and out of trouble.”

Weiner caused a stir earlier this month when he favorited a tweet that said, “Tinder will now be the ultimate sext machine.”
He later tweeted it was an accident: “OK, to recap my day. I accidentally hit the star thingy on a @voxdotcom story about Tinder. Sorry.”

The Democrat’s 2013 mayoral bid collapsed when he repeatedly sexted a woman after resigning from Congress for similar behavior.

I think it is belaboring the obvious to say that Weiner is in denial and still indulging his addiction to sexting. The fact that he was caught out just this summer endorsing "the ultimate sext machine" establishes that. And god only knows what he's doing under any number of internet aliases - as long as he doesn't show his face.

Weiner caused a stir earlier this month when he favorited a tweet that said, “Tinder will now be the ultimate sext machine.”

http://www.vice.com/read/i-spoke-to-some-sex-addicts-about-anthony-weiner

What are your thoughts on Weiner?
Scott: I've been following him closely since this all started because it's really interested me. He clearly has a sex addiction, but his biggest problem is that he is in denial. Alcoholics Anonymous tells you the hardest problem to overcoming an addiction is crossing the “River of Denial.” I remember watching him on TV, and he said the phrase “when I was doing those things.” That is a classic denial phrase. What he should have said was “When I did those things.” When I saw that I turned to my wife and said, “Oh man, this guy is in some hard denial.”

Is there any way he can stop?
Not without admitting to it. Which, in my opinion, he has yet to do. I have seen a lot of people come and go with all kinds of addictions, not once has some stopped without admitting to it. You know, one of the commonalities in sex addiction is leading a double life. In his life with his wife and as a congressman, he doesn’t acknowledge this other life he is living online. He won’t come to terms with it because he has this inherent narcissism that prevents him from recognizing any flaws.

And a comment on that link:
except I notice no one addresses the reason WHY he can't cross the "river of denial"...and ultimately wont seek help: His ego. Its the size of Mount Rushmore and I am pretty sure its faithfully fed by his enabling wife.

Someone commented up thread about the possibility of Weiner becoming a lobbyist. He must have been promised something if he'd clean up his act until the election. The problem which his wife and her boss have is they really expect somebody with Weiner's addiction can be rehabilitated. Bill Clinton's serial womanizing may have slowed down due to his age & health, but Weiner is obviously still raring to go.

What a terrible role model a man like that is to his child re what it means to be a husband. And what a terrible role model from both parents re what it means to be married.
